Can I please pick your collective brains? I want to add a link directory to my tiny portfolio (only 5 sites ). I honestly know nothing about running one so I don't want to start from scratch - reinventing the wheel doesn't sound so clever - so I have decided to buy an existing site. That's when my lack of knowledge kicks in!

Free everything directories - seems a strange business model...

Bid directories - Looks like most people go for the basic $1.00 so does it pay?

High end directories - outside my budget

I sort of think I need to buy one which is well established - say two or three years old, current - not too many pending links and with a PR of 4 or 5.

What do you think of the future for directories and what advice would you give someone starting out?

And of course, if you have something suitable and for sale, then I would love to hear from you.
