the tradition of light background and dark text is not tradition, it has to do with how people see, and how they perceive.

I agree about white on black.
Also your blocks of text content are too 'dense'. Use line height to give more spacing between lines.
Get rid of the Flash icons on your home page.

It is very dark, and that depends on what impression you want to give. I would lighten it up a bit, but that's just me. The flash animation is a little busy, and will distract users from you main content.

Personally I like the black especially where you have the rays of light at the top. Mixed with the gold gives it a rich look. I agree about the text in that it needs to be spaced and a bigger font for easier readability. You have a whole page. Why make it small? All in all I like your work.

Excellent design and art work. The loading time is also good. I like your logo design, looks great..
