Anyone with a clue to how to start troubleshooting a dead HP laptop motherboard? Component level of course. I have a scope and basic computer hardware knowledge....

Thanks for your help

laptop motherboards are tricky things 'cause everything that the laptop uses is on the board. Have you taken it out yet? Look for cracks/weakness in the board, check for fried capacitors and resistors, test the cpu... pretty much start at the simplest thing you could think of being wrong with it and go up from there. Hopefully that helps a bit.

As suggested earlier Motherboard is heart of computer. Almost all components are linked to it. Moreover its very complex machine I would say if you could do then its fine else you just take it to some motherboard repair expert.
