Hardware/Software double trouble

  #1
Mar 15th, 2005
I have windows 98,aol 6.0. I get the following pop-ups:
"current security settings prohibit running active x controls" and "Fatal error in Unzdll.dll: Abort Exception Error in Extract. Fatal Dll Exception". I get the latter when I try to open a Zip file. Also get RichEdit Line insertion error. My harddrive sounds like a machine gun going off when I start my computer up in the morning. Takes forever and is slow. I cleaned all my temp files, history, recent, cookies, defraged, and scan disc. I tried to install Ad-Aware SE but was unable to. I also tried to install Norton Systemworks but a popup said"Symantec Product Installer already running". I tried to install Fix-it utilities5 but I am unable to access the fix it wizards. Don't know what to do next.

My harddrive sounds like a machine gun going off when I start my computer up in the morning.
It could happen that your hardrive is saying goodbye to this world very soon. Try to backup your data on CD-R/W or memory stick.

"current security settings prohibit running active x controls"
It probably means you have activeX disabled which is a good thing to do in my opinion. To use a different browser is even better (Mozilla, Firefox, Opera etc.).

Fatal error in Unzdll.dll: Abort Exception Error in Extract. Fatal Dll Exception
If your HD wasn't about to die I would say just reinstall WinZip.
