I have IE -8 under vista business and my IE started going into a web site search after I go to main site. 1st site comes up and as soon as you hit some button to go to another place on this site, IE goes into some kind of search and just hangs there. Tried deleting IE -8 and going back to 7. That didn't work, reinstalled IE 8. Deleted everything like cookies, history, temp internet files. Something is hooked up to IE. Got any ideas how to clean out files I don't know about???
Tried Apple Safari, it works fine so don't think it's the OS.
Regards,
Gene

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebyt...are_d5756.html) to your desktop.
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.
Make sure that you restart the computer.
Once done, download HJT from here - http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro...-10227353.html
and post it's log too.

To be honest, I wouldn't be trusting ANYTHING McAfee was reporting, as has a hopeless hit rate.
Apart from running MalwaeBytes, would also be stripping your temp files (including cookies), and also just check to make sure your homepage has not been altered - if it has, you'll need to reset it, as any malware you remove may easily find it's way back if your browser simply hops back to the source page on next load-up of IE
