Vista Home Premium Logon Problems

I am using FF to logon. I have to try multiple times to get on DSL. I need to find out the proper settings, DNS, etc.
From reading some of the posts here I have learned to use the CMD prompt to display the settings I have so I can post them here.
Here is the line to type in. "ipconfig /all"
Once I have logged in it works fine. I am using the 32bit version of Vista Premium.
BTW I didn't experience this problem with my previous XP computer.
I sold that computer to my niece who is disabled, and I didn't want
her to have to learn Vista. LOL
Any assistance will be appreciated.

If you can ever log on, then your router and network card settings aren't likely to be wrong. But by all means post your IPCONFIG settings when it doesn't work and again when it does work.

Usual reasons is dodgy wired connexion to the router or poor wireless strength.

But you never know till the evidence is given.

This is what was listed when it is working. Sorry it took so long to reply. Thanks for your interest. BTW this is a Ethernet connection thru a DSL modem "Speedstream 5100. Sometimes I have to reset the modem several times to make it work. As you have said it may be a week signal, on the Line.

This is some related information I read about in one of the solved threads. Where could I find out about the driver, or drivers required for the Speedstream 5100 that is about 4yrs old? So I am wondering if
it is compatible with the Vista Home Premium that is on this machine.
Again thanks for any and all help.

No driver is needed for a DSL modem connected to the PC via ethernet. What you thibk is the driver is likely to be the management software for changing the router configuration.

I'd like to see the IPCONFIG /ALL log when the connexion isn't working. I was surprised to see the short lease time on the connected ethernet, I would change that to an infinite time setting.

I wouldn't expect you to have to log on to your DSL service. The Connections tab in the browser Tools menu option should be set to "Never dial a connection" and the LAN Settings should be kept blank.

Then when you load your browser, your home page should automatically appear.
