Connected to network but no internet

Hello.
I'm not the most computer literate, but I'll try to explain as best as I can.

I am using my laptop with Windows Vista Home Basic and a linksys router. My connection says it is connected, but when I open both browsers (Firefox and Internet Explorer 7) nothing happens except a message explaining it cannot connect to the server. Msn Messenger works perfectly fine, it seems to just be the internet from what I know. If there is anything else you need to know, let me know. Please help me, this is driving me insane.
Thank you.

There is this problem with wireless connectivity on Vitsa laptops. There has been no hard and fast solutions for the same but 5 different methods worked for 5 different people ( though none for me ) Just search for " Vista wireless connectivity problem " on Google and the answers should appear.

Okay, so I have done a few things. First, I visited the microsoft link someone provided and followed to the instructions on modifying something in the registry, that did not work. So I found another post similar to mine on another site and ran a few tests. Here is the original information for the ipconfig/all on cmd:

**Note:I've taken out the Ip Address because my father is paranoid about it, but if it is needed I will post it.**

The next thing I did was this:
TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows Vista.

Start, All Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

I rebooted the computer and tried the internet, still nothing. I ran some tests with these instructions on the command prompt:
IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address>

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

Here are my results:

Now what am I suppose to make of this information???!! I don't understand the numbers, but where the IP was pinged, I can see it failed. Why is that?

I figured it out. Apparently there was still components of Norton on my computer, I used the Norton Remove Tool from the Symantec website, restarted and voila. Thanks for the support guys.
