ok people, here is the specs for my machine and i would like to know which power supply would be best for my machine (working with below 50 dollars here) and where.
EVGA 680i premium motherboard
1x2 Gig 667Mhz RAM (trying to expand to 4gig)
410gig storage
2.4ghz q6600 quadcore processor
512mb nvidea 8400 vga (point of view)

running vista ultimate, core programs being 3d softs, programming softs.

Spend as much as you can on a PSU. Cheap ones are a false economy.

Do you have any in mind at the mo?

no, not really. the one i'm using currently cost me $15. and it's giving me a headache, plus i want to change my VGA to a GTX 9300 so i really need something good.

Where abouts in the world are you and do you want to buy from a local shop or via the net?

Also, a rough idea of budget would be handy.

ok, i'm in Ghana (west africa) and i'd get someone who is coming from the states or uk to get it for me. as i said, i'm working with below $50 (that is for the PSU).

You will need at least a 550 Watt PSU. Good luck finding one for $50.

Buy a cheap psu and run the risk of damaging more expensive PC parts.
