JSP at Runtime

Hi,

I was wondering if there's a framework that can help me with the following:
I currently have regex checks on html input fields that work 100%, I would like to also have a check to the database for duplicate records so that if the user enters an ID that is already taken, an alert will pop up and inform the user of this.

--It would be easy to do it on the serverside, however, I need to do it once the page has already loaded, therefore, at runtime.

Any suggestions? Perhaps open source code is out there for this type of thing already?

Thanks,
-Ashton.
