can any one tell me the difference in architecture of dual core and core-2-duo processor? which one is better?

The difference in architecture is well described at Intel.com.

Obviously Core-2 Duo is the better architecture.

On the architecture point - in my view, the architecture scope includes the software that can run. There's a good article here:

duel core is first generation 2 core cpu's, then came core 2 duo,then came quad core .so if newer is better then core 2 duo is better than dual core
