cannot get 256 color to apply to my monitor i dont know what to do

the colors on my moniter arent right. cant get 256 color or 32bit to stay. the color was right before, now its not. been told maybe video display adapter. are there any web sites with free downloads to fix my problem? im new to this so im not sure what to do.

If you have a video card, you need to get the manufactures name and model number of it, and then go to their website for the latest drivers.

If you have 'on-board' video, you need to get the manufactures name and model number of your motherboard, and then go to that website for the latest drivers.

Many of the new video cards require direct X in order to work.

I would reinstall Direct X as well as the original drivers.
