Hi,

I have just bought Pinnacle PCTV 300i Sterio DVB-T card and it came with the software Pinnacle Media Center. When I tell the software that I want it to scan for chanels I get this error:

well i bought exactly the same thing and i managed to get mine working ok.. although i did have a bit of trouble with the sound to begin with.. other than that it works ok.. maybe its a faulty card as i had no real trouble installing it! shame though because it really is a wicked card!

I am not sure if it is the card, I download another peace of software and it seemed to get sound and video from the card but it had a tendency to freeze my computer

had the same problem, but noticed it said sp2 was not installed... im not sure if its that.. what other sw u used???

Hi,

I found out what the problem was. I had recently upgraded my OS to XP Home but forgot to install the drivers for my sound card.

I put SP2 on the machine and then updated the media centre to its latest version. Once I had installed the drivers for my soundcard it all worked fine. I suggest you try these and making sure you have nothing wrong with the hardware for your sound card / video.

I really don't like media centre, I recently read an article saying that although the PCTV 300i has an s-video/composite port, the software hasn't been written to utilise it!!!

Hi

initially the registry value for "TVChannel.Country" ist set to zero. Depending on the installed framework this will cause the descripted exception. Set it to any valid value (e.g. 49) and autoscan will operate. If "49" (Germany) is not suitable you can change it with the GUI.

Or make a ".reg"-File like the following:

Hey.. Now i don't mean to dig up a (rather) old topic here, but i fear i've no other option..

I've just been given a Pinnacle PCTV 300i card, complete with drivers and Pinnacle Media Center as well (on the supplied cd). Now, this all installs well and good, but there is a problem when it comes to scanning for channels.

When i start to scan, my pc reboots. Every time.
Now, i've just today replaced my PSU with a CoolerMaster iGreen 600w unit, so i know it's not a power issue. And XP is up to date. Also i've tried MediaPortal, but to no avail, and i'm really at a loss as for what to do.

Can any of you guys point me in the right direction? Please?


Oh, system spec is as follows:

C2D E6600 2.4ghz
Asus P5NSLi Motherboard
1 Gig A-Data 800mhz RAM
2x nVidia 7600GS 512MB GFX Cards in SLi mode
CoolerMaster iGreen 600w PSU
250gig Samsung HD
Pinnacle PCTV 300i Tv Card
& Case Fans / Few Lights.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.. Thanks in advance.
