All-of-a-sudden, I lost my sound

I'm running a 2 gig machine with 512 megs of RAM with Win XP Pro, Svc Pk 2.
It's an Asus MB with built-in audio and video.

I've been fighting a lot of spyware lately, and somewhere along the way I've lost my sound. Some input on how I can get it back (and I feel it's software/system related)? Any input appreciated.

Thanks, BuddyB

Open volume control and check to see if it is set to 'Mute'.

But i can see that they have these models.
Maybe try downloading the Drivers off one of them?
If its a

A7V8X-X http://www.asus.com/products/mb/sock.../a7v8x-x_l.jpg

then maybe you need this

Description
SoundMAX Audio Driver version 5.12.01.3663 driver for Windows
http://www.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc...0/NT4_3663.zip
http://www.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/au...0/NT4_3663.zip
http://www.asuscom.de/pub/ASUS/misc/...0/NT4_3663.zip

If not try this other MotherBoard
