for no good reason, my serial port v92 hardware modem will not work.i surfed in the morning for a couple of hours then broke off for breakfast then attempted to get back on, but a message came up saying something like "unable to operate device error 8". anyone out there have a fix?.

your hardware may be faulty... install anything recently?
