Google reverts back to old backlink count ????

OK, I woke up this morning hoping that the PR meter was back up to evaluate some of the sites I've been working on. The PR meter is still down, , and I did a backlink check on some sites. It seems like G has reverted to showing the backlink count of the last update. To clarify, if I do a backlink showing count on daniweb, it shows 5940; while yesterday, it showed 11,700. On another one of my sites, I boosted from 18 to 357. TODAY, the backlink count is back to 18. Is this strange, or has the last 2 days been a really crazy dream?
www.markdavidny.com - just one of my sites I'm trying to boost traffic for ;-)

DaniWeb's been fluctuating between 6K and 11K for me for the last week or so. It might be due to changes in the algorithm or simply that you're hitting a different server each time.
