I tried both of those before starting this topic.....I just don't know what the problem is..sooo frustrating! :mad:

It may be a security setting in IE. Try setting them to the default settings. Have you tried another browser to see if you have the same problem?

Close IE and go to Start > Run and run the following commands one after the other, each line followed by 'enter':

regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 comcat.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll

Run each line individually. After each run, you should see a short message stating the command was successful. Reboot.

Okay, I did the thing you suggested, three of them failed though, the rest succedded.
I wrote down the ones that failed and the message that came with it.

Load Lirbrary shdocvw.dll failed
Get last error return code 0x00000485
another variation of above error is
return code 0x80004005

Mshtml.dll failed
return code was 0x80070002

Shell32.dll was loaded, but DIL register server entry point was not found.
DLLRegisterServer may not be exported, or a corrupt version of Shell32.DLL may be in memory, consider using Pview to detect and remove it

By the way, all security settings are on default, no firewall is setup, and I have same problem in three different browsers

If you have the same problem on different browsers it sounds like something else on your pc. It's something I am not yet familiar with, so I will ask one of my colleagues here to jump in.

1. For the problems you're having with the ".dll" files, try running the System File Checker. It will scan your system to make sure you have good copies of the core Windows system files installed, and will tell you if any of the files or missing or corrupted. If it does find missing or corrupted files, it will prompt you to insert the Windows installation CD and will pull fresh copies of the files from that disk. More detail on using the Utility in Win 98 can be found on this page at Microsoft's support site:

2. For the problem you're having with the one web site, try this:

Open an MS-DOS window, type the following at the DOS prompt, and then hit Enter:

ipconfig /flushdns

thanks for all the help guys......still same problem though.....

I do have some more suggestions, but I don't have time to gather them together and post them right now.

Did the System File Checker find anything wrong, or did it just complete without giving you any feedback?

the system file check completed without any problems.......i wasn't prompted to reinstall anything......
