I installed Windows XP-Pro on my parent's computer a while ago. They've never been able to change their screen resolution because I can't bring up the display options. I've tried right-clicking on the desktop, going through the control panel, updating drivers for the video card via the internet. I looked at the registry for current users (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System) but the system sub-directory or whatever it's called didn't exist. I tried going through the local machine. I don't have any clue.
The problem started after i switched from windows 98 to Windows XP-Pro. I thought that if it was the video driver i could load the driver off the old system restore cd. The only way I can access it is if i boot the computer from CD and I"m nervous about that because I don't want to risk screwing things up.
Thanks for any help you can give.
