i could use a little help getting rid of a pesky hijack and its mate toolbar.

I have IE pages opening at random.
files named 'cisvvc.exe', 'rdsndin.exe', 'shdoclc.dll' and 'iyzse.dll' showing up as programs in ZoneAlarm, and a warning supposedly from IE saying im infected.

ive done a search here but i couldn't find my specific problem.

Norton pops up occasionally and tells me it's stopped a program downloading and calls it trojan-start.page, but it tells me then it's been deleted. I cant find any part of it when i do a virus scan - even in safe mode.
I know its there from the popups and the cpu resources its sucking up.

i've gotten rid of most of the things it's given me. i even use the microsoft antivirus program now. its the only one that really found anything:

- ItEye Remote Access Trojan
- 180 Search
- YourSiteBar

ADAWARE 1.6 gets locked up when it scans the userkey section, even in safe mode. i can take out some things and it just keeps coming back. i even went back to using 1.5 and no change.
SPYBOT 1.3 has found things from time to time but nothing that says its a trojan or a hijack.

i've deleted my temp folders, all my history folders. and any tmp files i could find.

something has given me a toolbar i really do not want. (www.thequicklink) and some colorful bookmarks too.(search-4all.info search bar)

in my HIJACKTHIS log, i see two 017's which i know are the referrals but when i remove them(even in safe mode) they come back after IE says it needs to close because it has recovered from an error.

I use F5 to get the safe mode (with networking) menu, and not F8 as everyone says to do. F8 does nothing for me but boot normally in XP.

What am i doing wrong? Ive been at this for a week now with no real ground made.

Be sure all windows are closed, other then hijackthis, before hitting Fix checked.

Get the latest version of HijackThis (1.99.1), close any open browser windows, scan with HJT, and post a new log please.

By some odd coincidence, my XP SP2 disk came by mail today so i installed that instead of SP1a. Im hoping i didnt jump the gun.

I updated HijackThis to 1.99.1 and updated Norton AV too while i was in the downloading groove. Scanned, and removed the offending files.

No more toolbar. No more popups. No more misdirected browsers.

Now...
Norton's still telling me i have a different trojan when windows loads up.

"Security Alert _ Norton Internet Worm Protection has detected and blocked an intrusion attempt. _Default Block Bla Trojan horse_ Inbound Local Address 127.0.0.1 Local port 1042 Protocol UDP"

I scanned with Adaware. no problems found. just the usual cookies.

I scanned with Norton. nothing. I scan in safe-mode, and also it finds nothing.
I click OK to close the Norton window, and then Zone Alarm pops up with "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services wants to accept connections from the Internet." I clicked Deny for now. I can still connect to the internet with no problems.

Is this alert the bad stuff wanting back in?

Also, I see 'svchost.exe' a few times in the HijackThis log, and this new popup makes me wonder if its supposed to do that?
