No Sound after formatting hard drive

Just like the subject line says, I formatted my hard drive, installed windows XP everything is working fine except I have NO SOUND!! Any reason why this might be, or how I can get sound back?

check if your soundcard compatible with your WindowsXP. if not, download the updated drivers from your vendor's website and install it.

You've simply neglected to install the necessary device drivers.

I'm with catweasle on this, lack of sound drivers is usually the cause...
Firefox: no, its not the end all solution, it has its own issues and in time it will be just as insecure as IE, when its hit Firefox 6, if it makes it that far. Oh, and AOL pays for it, incase you didn't know.

Microsoft & Windows: If you hate it so much, move to linux, or bsd, or anything else, stop complaning and move on.

Perhaps also motherboard chipset drivers.

Right click on My PC go to Manage and select the device manager... check if the direvers are there (see if there are any ! signs or errors).

If its there should work... tell us what sound card is.

Catweazle and Zachery are right. Just go to your sound card manufacturers website and download and install the latest drivers.
