I wouldn't imagine you would have to reinstall for these problems. Sorry that your last thread was overlooked. It get's pretty busy around here.

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Open the Misc Tools Section"
2. Click "Open Process manager"

-

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

C:\WINDOWS\MYTZENC.EXE

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Still in HiJackThis, click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

Crunchie...HELP!!! :cry:

I did everything you instructed me to do. The only file I was able to delete from the C: was C:/windows/mytzenc.exe

The rest were not present.

When I tried to reboot, my pc will no longer work. I can't get into Windows. I tried it via Safe Mode, but it always freezes when it shows the "Windows" icon. I don't get past that.

What now???

I'm writing to you from my son's computer, but I need to access files that are on mine.

Your help is GREATLY appreciated.

Hit the F8 button whilst booting and choose "Last Known Good Configuration." See if that allows you to get in.

Did as you suggested. I got an error message:

One of the system's registry files had to be recovered....everything ok.

I clicked "OK", then it froze at the Windows icon again

Before doing a full reinstall, you can try a Repair install. The repair process will replace your damaged/infected/missing Windows system files with fresh copies from the CD, but will (or at least should) leave your programs and data intact.

I was not able to do a repair install, but the link led me to a fix for booting up windows XP. I seem to still have spyware issues though. here's my HJT log:
