Offline Folders won't leave....

We have a ton of users on our network with laptops who use offline folders. Our issue revolves around sync'ing these folders and/or trying to remove them. For example, we had a server go down and I rebuilt it. Afterwards, everyone was complaining of sync problems because I had changed the name of the server. So I went around and removed the offline folder and deleted the locally stored files from the laptop. Even though I told it to stop using the folder from the old server, it still tried to sync. I manually deleted the files and wiped anything in the registery I could find with the old server name to no avail. My final resolution was to rebuild the laptop. This morning, an enduser was getting an error message that "files are not available" even though everyone can see them on the network. If I moved the particular files to a subfolder, it would sync. Move them back, and it got the error. I again tried to remove the offline folder, delete the files, reboot, and recreate, and it acts as if the files are still on the hard drive. Does anyone know what reg keys these offline folders are stored in, or an undocumented Microsoft tool to wipe them out of the registry?
