WMedia player restarts my pc

hi ho duders, can n e 1 help us out, i had 2 format my C drive has i was getting alot of system errors. :!:
Anyway this was done and i reinstalled my win xp home ed that had service pak 1. I then upgraded my windows media player 7 to a WMP 10 and now when i have it running it restarts my machine, i had also installed windows media player 9 codecs and xvid codec.
does anyone know
why or what shud i try :-|
