can't reinstall network after dead pc

Operating system of affected Systems : both XP/home sp2
Router make/model (if applicable): AWR51/2 unbranded ADSL wirelless router supporting 802.11b
When the problem began, and what the last thing you did before the problem began: wireless linked pc disk died about 2 weeks ago. bought new box and tried to reset up network using normal Setup wizard. Couldn't get connection so strated palying around with settings on main pc linked to router by cat5 cable. Now can't get access to router via browser to check settings but:
- can ping router
- do have internet access
- can't see other pc on network
Firewall, or any other security programs running : normal windows firewall, McaFee antivirus, windows antispyware beta
