Both computers have Windows XP Profesional installed, both use Firefox, both have same RAM, the host computer providing the connection gets 30~kb/s even when the client computer is off, and the client computer gets a steady 75 kb/s average. I'm just wondering why this is.

If it makes any difference at all, the only hardware differences besides monitors between these 2 computers is the client (the 75kb/s one) has a 330mhz CPU, and this computer, the host, has a 533mhz.

They share the one ADSL USB broadband modem, and the connection itself is installed on the host. They are connected through an RJ-45 LAN Cable and 2 x the exact same NIC's.
