Okay I made a topic, yet no ones replyed to it, and it has to do with my desktop, but I see everyone else getting theirs replayed all over the place. My desktops settings are disabled, I only have screensaver and settings; I also, put down the log, and no ones has replyed to it? Are you guys ignoring me and just posting to others or what? :-|

Hi,
Right-click on the below provided link, and click "Save As" or "Save Tartget As" and save the file with its default name (default name would be smitfraud.reg).
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/reg/smitfraud.reg

Then double-click on this saved file, and click "Yes" to merge it to Registry. Restart the PC, and check whether your Desktop Properties and background are back to normal or not. Also, post a fresh HijackThis log.

Hi,

Boot in Safe Mode:-
Restart (or switch ON) the PC.
Then, keep tapping the F8 Key.
From the menu that will be displayed, out of which choose Safe Mode and press Enter.

Run HijackThis and click "Do only a system scan". Then select these entries:-

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - Startup: Reboot.exe

Close all other programs, and click "Fix Checked" in HijackThis.


Restart to Normal Mode. Then post a fresh HijackThis log.

Hi,
Log looks clean
Your PC propably was infected by a spyware called Smitfraud or its variant. This family of spyware makes some changes in Windows Registry due to which the Destop Properties are disabled. Also, (in some cases) Wallpaper is changed to one which looks like a "Blue Screen Of Death"!

The Desktop Properties (and tabs) can enabled by rolling back the changes made by Smitfraud. The Registry file provided in my first post here, reverts back the entries changed by Smitfraud to default ones, thus getting back the Desktop Settings.

And, the things fixed in HijackThis are related to Internet Explorer. They are related to default Search page and some Proxy settings.
