Emergency Help with dell laptop

Reformate and cant restore "Invalid system disk Replace the disk and press any key... dosent read ANYthing
This is a problem I never had before... restoring a friends Dell Laptop Latitude CPxJ650GT BIOS Revision A08... I can not get it to read any drive there wasn't an A drive attaced have external one but can not read it either... I am lost please can someone help me get the system back so I can reinstall windows??????

Make sure the BIOS is set to boot from the CD or Floppy drive. On most newer Dells you can press the F12 key to change the boot drive selection during POST. If it still won't read from a bootable CD or Floppy then you may have a problem with the drives, BIOS, or motherboard. Make sure any removable or hot-swapable drives are seated properly in the slots.
