Hey, I am in search of a free webhost for future reference...it should have a good amount of space (40MB or so and up) and a few (2 or 3 or more) GB of monthly bandwidth, and most importantly, no ads. I used to use Breezeland, until they crashed and turned into a bank which then turned into...a dating service now, I think...and I tried Distanthost; bad luck, they crashed too...I'm looking at illusionfxnet.com and Fairmount...

Anyone know a good free webhost with no ads? Thanks...

(PS - the reason I don't like ads or anything they force onto each of the pages you upload is that I tend to be very particular about strict xhtml...and ads mess things up by completely distorting the page layout and invalidating the markup)

Not that I know of. 1asphost.com is a good host, and they give you unlimited bandwidth, ASP, and 100MB of space, but they provide an ad on your page. To me it's pointless if a company provides an ad-free service because they wouldn't benefit and people would abuse it. You don't have to give a reason why you don't like ads. Nobody does. But that's asking a lot when you're not willing to pay anything for it.

What about Doteasy? You pay for the domain and the hosting is free and ad-free. I have several sites on Doteasy and so far have had no problems.

yes, www.doteasy.com check the reviews...some are good, some not so good. I have several sites hosted by doteasy and have had no problems at all, so far. I have only had to ask for support twice but I got a quick and helpful response each time. The hosting is free...you just pay for the domain name once a year. No ads. If you have alot of traffic there are upgrades available.

Well, since doteasy is funded by their domain transfers and registration.. That ensures they will be stable..

Going with free hosts is iffy though.. if its free, you're not ENTITLED to quick support, or any support; as it is with many free hosts. So I dunno. :o

I think "Best" and "free" in hosting is a race between which is the least worst, IMO.
