I wouldn't get too discouraged by the lack of responses here. With such a large and vast community, you can easily see 1000 attendees or more. I'm one of those 50,000 that gets on here every so often, but pretty rarely.
With Huntsville Car Scene, which is my web site and community of local car and bike enthusiasts, I've set up several polls. And the responses are almost never equivalent to the real life attendance. And this is pretty much the norm in the forum world--unfortunately.
Sometimes people are readily willing to jump on the bandwagon, but lacking to commit the day of the event. Or just the opposite, saying nothing, but then coming with a dozen of their friends.
A perfect example was HCS's first ever event. Loosely planned, not too well promoted, and we exceeded the highest attendance expectations by over 25%! I think a DaniWeb get together would be the same.
I would think a well planned get-together will draw quite a few people from all over the US, and even the world. (Heck, Europe isn't but a 6-8hr flight away). I know I for one will be kicking myself for not being able to come.
In very rare instances is a "build it and they will come" philosophy successful. But in the case of community get togethers and events, it just seems to work.
Good luck and mass email everyone!
