I am a final year computer/networks student, i would like to build a chat/video communication system between two computers or more.I need advice on what sort of software/develpoment methods is required to build the system. I was thinking of using Java to program the system, but really dont know where to start. Please i would really need some help on my final year project and any advice or tips you give to me will be truely appreciated.

hi,
you can try using JMF, I had used it for audio/ video play back but it has necessary API for voice as well as video chat(I think so)
You can try downloading JMF from sun's site.
Hope it help you.

Hi everyone,

I am assuming that you are talking about video conferencing
with voice in java. Cheenu78 is right in that you will have to use jmf for this.

Here are two threads of mine at wizard solutions that has source codes for creating
video conferencing in java from scratch

The below link is about video conferencing only in java

http://www.wizardsolutionsusa.com/fo...read.php?t=138

The below link is about live video and sound conferencing in java

I hope this helps you
