Dreamweaver backslash problem

I have been frustrated for some time now on how to stop Dreamweaver from adding a backslash before the word "images" when I place a new image in the layout area. (example: /images/image.jpg -- what I need to automatically happen is: images/image.jpg).
Please help. I have checked my file directory structure with another machine in the office and we have set things up exactly the same.
Is it simply a preference?
