Is there a way to network my two computers with a USB connection?

Yes, but it requires an adapter specially-made to hook the two PCs together. A computer's USB port is always master, so the adapter makes each PC "look like" it's a slave to the other.

This is but one example of several -- you may find one at a lower price, as well.

get 2 USB ethernet adapters and a crossover cable.

Then, each system will have an ethernet connection to the other, and you would just treat the systems as if they were on a network. You could share data, and an internet connection using this method.
