can't back up to drive

a friend from another site has posted this

when i attempt to back up files iget the response

"unable to access the disc in drive E and the disc is not write protected"
he says he has changed the write protect, archive and read only boxes but to no avail.

can anyone on this site help please

Could you be more specific? What kind of disk is it? Does it have a Write Protect notch on it? Some disks require you to physically remove the Write Protect from the disk before they can be written to...
