Wi-fi Network

I currently have a Internet/File sharing LAN with 3 of 4 computers hooked up all the time and I am looking into setting up a Wi-Fi network in my house so it can have all computers on all the time.

I have one laptop with a wireless network card in built (802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11a+b, 802.11g, 802.11a+g) and to make it cheaper I would like what ever I get to be compatable with it.

So I want to set up a WAN hub and connect it to my LAN hub with a Gatway that works with my laptop.

What would you recomened and what else would I need if I have missed something?

Just get a wireless access point, plug it into your hub/switch, assign it an IP on your network, configure WEP, and connect your laptop to your LAN in ad-hoc mode. I've had that setup for about a year now with no problems. The only difference is I have 9 boxes on the LAN plus the wireless laptop.

Let me know if you need more detailed instructions. (The user manual for the AP should walk you through everything, so you shouldn't have any difficulties.)

But really it's your personal preference. I am a linksys man myself...but that's just because their products are readily available in my small podunksville town. Plus 3coms are expensive as he11 so I usually go with linksys and Dlink.
