IE takes a long time to get to new address

I am currently using IE 6.02 with Windows XP Pro. When I launch IE I get to my home page fine, but when I type in a new address it takes over 50 seconds to get to that page. Once I am in the new page I can browse around that page fine, but if I try to go to another new page by typing something in the addressbar, it takes another 50+ seconds. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Load the command prompt by running "cmd" from the run dialog. Once you are at the command prompt, run "nslookup domainName" (replace domainName with a domain that you haven't visited for a while). See how long it takes for you to get a response. Run this test a number of times with different domain names. If you get quick responses, the problem is most likely related to your Internet Explorer. If you don't get quick responses, the problem is related to the name servers that you are using. Let us know the results of your tests.
Did we help you? Did we miss the point entirely? Update your thread and let us know.
Don't like the answers you are getting?
Did you try searching?

I did the test, and got a fast reply on all. I do also believe it to be an IE problem as using other browsers works fine, however, I need IE as it is the only browser that works for a few sites I need to visit often.

I have Win xp Prof and Win Xp Home Edition installed, i had a problem with IE in Win xp prof when ever i tried to open a web page, on the status bar a message appeared 'Done, but with errors on the page'. But the page would be blank, some times it opened but after a long time.

I dont know whether it is correct but i tried some thing different, I just copied the IE from Win XP Home Edition -Program Files\Internet Explorer and it pasted it in Win XP Prof-Program Files\Internet Explorer and clicked on replace all, it worked and till date i dont have any problem

Please dont try it.... this might not be the correct method

Until you find a working solution, you might try an Internet Explorer-based browser such as Avant, Maxthon, FlashPeak, NetCaptor, or iRider. You can also try the Netscape Browser 8.0 which has both the Gecko (Firefox) and Trident (Internet Explorer) rendering engines to allow for maximum site compatibility. Opera is also a very popular browser.
