FREE ANTI-VIRUS -vs- NORTON, etc.

Hello! I'm looking for some input on your feels about the FREE Anti-Virus software Alwil Avast! Antivirus or AVG Free edition -vs- the fee based programs like Nortons, etc. I have used the AVG in the past without and had pretty good results. I have not used the Alwil Avast, however, it is rated pretty high by Consumer Reports.

I use, and would definitely recommend, AVG. I haven't used Avast! at all, but the people I know who do use it are quite happy with it.

Being that both programs are free, why not test drive each one (not at the same time!) and see which you prefer.
