Hey,

I am having problems with the sound when playing DVD's on windows media player. It plays sounds when i watch an mpeg or some other movie file but when i play any DVD's no sounds comes out. I have gone through all the settings a few times now and nothing is helping the problem. I tried re-installing Media Player but that was giving me probelems too.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Most likely is because your DVD player does not have the audio cable that plugs into to your sound card. Your other CD player might but, to me it seems the Audio cable that plugs from your DVD player to the Sound Card is not present.

Hi, Had the same problem. Download this: http://www.free-codecs.com/ACE_Mega_...k_download.htm

Mosly this happens when you've installed the full version of Nero.... it screws up the codecs. Go to Media Player. Tools;Options;DVD;Advanced and it showed Nero Audio Decoder Filter Vers 1.0.4.23, i.e., NOT a Microsoft decoder. Clicking on properties the supposedly selectable "output audio channels" was greyed out (i.e., unable to register a click on any of the options) and none of the options was checked.

Seems like a problem with Nero when you install it taking over something in WMP and not shaking hands so they work together.

Hope this helps

I use VLC instead of Media Player, due to pretty much the same problem! Nero messing up the codecs would sound about right, cheers!

I think i'll stick with VLC though, as, so far, i've not found anything it won't play!

One Stop Solution:

Check the power and data cable connected. No need for connecting audio cables.

Download the media player classic codec and intall it.

Reboot and then play.
