Hi I'm getting a New Poly Win32 virus from the scan I did on Macafee. However it refused to be quarantined and such.

Also, when you try log in as a user it refuses to authenticate the password.

New Poly Win32 is a heuristic detection by McAfee AntiVirus, which means the file can be possibly a polymorphic virus. Here's what McAfee say's about this virus alert --> http://vil.mcafeesecurity.com/vil/content/v_99969.htm

Have you updated the AntiVirus? If not, update it's virus database and then scan the PC.


Also, there are some entries which need to be fixed using HijackThis. Run HijackThis and click Do only a System scan. Then put a check mark infront of below listed entries:-

Now, close all other open programs except Hijackthis and click the button Fix Checked in HijackThis.


Even after updating the virus database of McAfee, if you get the New Poly Win32 alerts, then perform an online virus scan at Kaspersky Online Scanner. Save the log it gives after the scan and post it back here along with a new HijackThis log.
