Older computer slow boot of floppy drive

I have an older computer with XP SP1. It has recently started taking a long time to boot up the floppy drive after windows loads and desktop appears. I thought it was because I had a lot of files but I deleted several programs, defragged, etc and it didn't help. As last resort I reformatted hard drive and reinstalled windows, this didn't help either. I have a 120 gig hard drive and 512 mem. My processor is an Intel Celeron with chipset. The only thing that I have changed is the graphics card. I upgraded and had to disable the driver for the one on the chipset. Any reason this would occur?
