Downloading a File from Server using JavaScript

Is it possible to download a file from the server and save it in the local pc.

If possible what is the steps to be followed. Plz reply me....................

You simply provide a link to the file.

No, you cannot blindly force a file from a server to be written to a user's system. Think about this for 5 seconds; the reason should be obvious.
