Troubleshooting Dead HP Vectra!

  #1
Jun 2nd, 2006
I have just recently got a S/H HP vectra but the previous owner has forgotten the power on password!
Do I need to remove the CMOS battery to reset the password before it will load windows? Or is there another way I can go around it.
All replies gratefully appreciated.

You need to reset the jumper which is located near the CMOS battery. Just take it off, boot for few seconds and replace back thats it, it should clear the p/w.
