I design and run a site for a local band and friends of mine www.seventhtimedown.com

i was just wondering was there anything i could do to make the site load faster this is my first time doing this stuff an duse dreamweaver and photoshop and flash mx. I just started but i was wondering if i could get anythign to make the page load faster or anything or make the backgrounds and stuff load faster.

Well, if you had jpeg's you could save the images at a lower quality; but I don't know what to do. Since you're using photoshop, try the "Save for Web" option in the file menu and see if that helps.

Use gif images, they are much more compressed than jpegs and were originally designed for use on the web. Rixius was right, try the save for the web option, you can save gif files there and tweak their options.
