Blue Screen, Inspiron 1000, Startup Problems

Hi all, I am completely computer illiterate. My laptop (Dell Inspiron 1000) won't start since I've had to shut it down when it froze a few days ago. Each time I turn it on, it starts regularly and then a black screen says s/t about a problem and how would I like to start my computer? So i choose the normal mode (I've tried them all) and it always leads to a blue screen that says the problem is an "unmountable boot volume" and a stop error of 0x000000ED (0x81292A48, 0xc0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) don't know what that really means. i tried to turn on my laptop and push Fn at the same time and ran some system tree tests which said that i have errors: code 0F00:0244 Block 6332135: uncorrectable data error or media is write protected. and another one: code 0F00: 1A44 block 6332135 uncorrectable data error or media is write protected.
does this make sense to anyone? is my laptop completely dead or is there any hope? thanks...
