Dell inspiron 1000 will complete boot

Hi all,
This is my first post on this site. My problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 1000 that will not complete the boot process. When I turn it on it brings up the Dell splash screen then goes to a cursor with a blank screen and starts a constane beeping. Any ideas would be appreaciated. Thanks klj
