Need help Reading and writing to a Port

im trying to make a program that can receive data from a port (ex. USB, Parallel) and then write back to it. i was wondering if anyone could help me out by point me in the right direction as of what to do. :-|

Not to hijack the thread, but if anyone knows of this in Pascal as well, that would be awesome.
