Pretend you're a normal person & review my site: interesting anecdotes, boring site?

http://www.anecdota.org

It's been online for a couple of months and has seen a few major redesigns. Looking at the access logs I see the classic 'long tail' effect - the front page gets a lot of attention, the other pages less so.

I'm trying to figure out how to make the topic pages (listed on the right) more popular. Opinions on any aspect of the website are welcome, from design to usability, but I'm especially interested in how people enter and exit the website.

Would you return to this website again; if not, why?
What would make you more inclined to visit the topic pages?
What's the worst thing about this website?

Much appreciated,

Dusty Pigeon

You have great content on your site. I think if you take away the fake shadow effect it will make your site look 100% better. You site is also a bit to wide for even a 1024*768 screen. As for the topics you could I don't really know how to make them stand out more. You could try putting them on the right side instead and maybe put them all in another box that has Topics at the top.

You might consider moving to some kind of blog website, then you could use there templates? Try http://www.wordpress.com and http://www.blogger.com.

Good Luck

Your web is very simple. Why don't creat a logo in gif o jpg format, will be more professional.
Use a bar of navigation on the header. Use graphics about animals, computers in each section. On the left you can use a small font and put it in vertical, it seems a little disordered the menus.
About the content in the right, you can use like a system of the news, where will put the date, author
good luck
