Hi,
Firstly,
You may want to use lan cables to test the connection. If it doesn't work then probably something is wrong with the cable modem.
Otherwise if you use the lan cable and it works fine however upon changing to wireless it doesn't, then this is what you should do.
Click onto the Network Connections (inside Control Panel) and double click onto your wireless network connections.
You should see two bars at the top called GENERAL and Support. Click on SUPPORT.
Look at the address type: if it is indicated manually then your problem can be solved. If it is indicated assigned by DHCP and you still can't get connected then sorry I have no idea how to fix this problem.
Therefore if the problem is the former, kindly go to GENERAL and click on PROPERTIES. Find TCP/IP and double click.
Make sure you indicate in the radio buttons to obtain an IP address automatically as well as obtain DNS automatically. Click OK and it should work.
regards,
Vaf

After connecting to the router, at DOS Prompt i typed ipconfig to get the ip add & i got...
When troubleshooting any network-related issue, the first thing you need to do is to completely disable any firewall software (including XP's built-in ICF/ICS features). Simply choosing the "Disable" option in the firewall program's settings/preferences rarely turns the firewall off entirely; you will need to deselect the preference setting that tells the firewall to automatically start when Windows boots, and then restart the computers. After reboot, verify that the firewall is indeed disabled.
Keep your firewalls dropped until you get things working.

when i email to netgear support, tis is wat they reply me:
With regards to your email support enquiry, it seems that you are using a speedtouch home ADSL modem which does not require bridging at all. What you will need is a "cross cable" to connect the modem to the router. Kindly take note that a cross cable is different from the normal ethernet cable which you have.
Once you have connected the modem to your router with a cross cable, run the setup CD on your computer and you should able to connect to the Internet. Your modem will not be able to work with a normal ethernet cable
what is bridging & what is a cross cable or how does it luks like?

"Bridge" is the wrong term. That's a totally diferent device. I think they meant "Router", which is what you have. There's nothing wrong with that.
"Cross cable", or sometimes called "Crossover cable" is an ethernet cable that crosses over, ie. the order of colored wires is different on one end than the other. This may be able to explain it better:

(sorry if it's a bit complex)
You need a crossover cable to connect the ADSL modem to your router's WAN port, and then you need a regular straight-through cable to connect your computer to one of the router's ports.

Let's also keep in mind that ladycharmed indicated that pings and HTTP requests (by IP address, using IE) from the computer to the router failed. The modem isn't even in the picture at that point.
