ok here is my deal du-jour.

My HP laptop won’t connect to the internet.

It won’t acknowledge the Wireless connection or the LAN (both are there as indicated my the netgear router).

I have also totally shut down and restarted both the dls modem and the wireless router both are working fine (as the desktop computer is fine.)

If I open the network connections file it is empty, If I try and set up a network, nothing happens, if I try and use the ‘troubleshoot’ function on the woreless device nothing happens,

this is a reinstall of xp professional with SP 2.

Tried to remove the Bluetooth with add/remove command and get

“The windows installer caould not be accessed, this can occure if you are running in the safe mode (I am not) or if the installer is not correctly installed.

Also, I can not run MSCONFIG from the command bar (run>msconfig> ia can however do a file/program search, and find it in the i386 files and run the exe from there.

here is my hijackthis data
