In firefox 1.5.0.7, when I load the maps.google.com/maps web page, the map does not show. If I view the Javaconsole I get the following error:

Any ideas as to what I need to set.
The Javascript in the content tab of firefox is enabled.

Do you have a popup blocker blocking info or is your firewall possibly blocking the information?
Not seeing your application needs I can recommend the "google store locator" available here:
http://www.crystaldawn.net/
It may or may not be what you need but if it's close it's a really great program. I have personally used it and it's cool.
