HD is noisy while working with NTFS?

Hey! So, I have a laptop installed with both Windows and Linux.
Linux comes first, logically, so its partitions fill up the first 90 Gigs of my HD.
Windows comes at the Very end, filling the remaining 30 Gigs.
Interestingly enough, Linux reads and writes from its partitions silently, but when either Linux Or Windows tries to read or write from the Windows NTFS partition, the HD makes a lot of extra noise. I have no idea why this is..

I assumed this was hard-drive related because it doesn't seem to be OS-specific. Both OS's make the noise when working with the last partition on my disk. Maybe it's normal :rolleyes:
synchronized (theWorld) { System.out.println ("It's all mine..."); }
How many people have code in their Sigs?

i found ntfs to be noisy too on my system and when i installed it on my server (theyve got some famn fast drives) it sounded like a plain taking off. I found reiserfs and ext3 have similar problems with noise whereas ext2 doesnt as much... odd

Defragging seems to help
If i am helpful, please give me reputation points.
