Too many processes running...help!!!

Hi all,
i have an xp system that i just installed like a week ago, but for some reason the amount of processes that are running(when i check) sum up to around 50 something...wut can i do, and some of the processes have wierd names....like y9LEy.exe....plz inform!!!

Here's a very good chart to check the background 'services' used in Windows XP.
You can use it for reference to disable services you don't need, if you like, but be cautious about doing so. Have a thorough read of the article first!

Also, try running a Virus scanner, Make sure you dont have any spyware running. Also, make sure you dont have so many programs in your start up folder, and dont make alot of programs start up when u turn on your computer
